Kechki Maacher Chochori (Minnow Fish Chochori)

Serves four people.

Ingredients:
  • Kechki maach (Minnow fish) - 250 gm
  • Chopped onion - 6 tablespoons
  • Garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground turmeric - ½ teaspoon
  • Green chili - 3 to 4
  • Chopped coriander - 2 tablespoon
  • Fried cumin powder - ½ teaspoon
  • Salt - ½ teaspoon
  • Oil - ¼ cup
Preparation:
  • Clean the fish carefully in water. Rinse and drain properly.
  • Fry a little bit of oil in a pan, and dry the fish over very low heat. This will keep the fish intact and retain its fresh look.
  • In another pan, brown onion in heated oil.
  • Add garlic, turmeric, salt and some water. Mix thoroughly.
  • Add the fish and chili.
  • Once the fish start to dry up and become flaky, add fried cumin powder and coriander.
  • Wait for a few more minutes to let the oil separate out, and serve.
