Ingredients:
- Shol maach - 7 to 8 pieces
- Onion paste - ½ cup
- Garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Kasundi (type of chili mustard relish) - 4 to 5 tablespoons
- Ground turmeric - 1 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Green chili - 3 to 4
- Mustard oil - 3/4 cup
- Clean and rinse the fish a few times with water and some salt.
- Marinate with a bit of turmeric, chili powder and salt.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish pieces slightly.
- Keep aside.
- Use the heated oil to fry the onion paste for about 2 minutes.
- Add garlic paste, rest of the the turmeric, chili power, salt and 2 tablespoons of water.
- Cover over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Remove the lid and gently mix in the fish.
- Add ½ cup of water and green chili.
- Cover again over low heat.
- Stir in the kasundi after about 10 minutes.
- Keep covered.
- Turn off the heat and let it sit for another 10 minutes.
- Serve hot with rice.
